From the 2007 Executive and our families, we would like to wish a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your Families! May you have a Joyous Holiday Season and safe travels if you are traveling to meet friends and family over the holidays. Sollten Sie auf Reisen gehen wuenschen wir Ihnen schoene und erholsame Urlaubstage. Membership Forms - Please go to our Memberships page and print off the membership form for 2008. Fill in your information and along with your dues mail it to: P.O. Box 27135, Plaza Center P.O. Red Deer, AB, T4N 6X8. If you know of anyone that used to be a member or anyone who may be interested in joining as a new member, please give them any phone number from any member of the executive. Help us get our membership numbers up to an all time high! On the membership form is a sponsor line. If you give the form out to someone else to join as a new member, enter your name on the bottom and you may win a prize! Suggestions - We ask that anyone that has suggestions for events, fundraising, etc. to please give any executive member a call and let us know your ideas. Volunteer Forms - We are continuously in need of volunteers, whether it is selling tickets for our raffle, working at the Bingos once a month, working at the July 1st celebrations or other events. Mmore help is always welcome and vital to the success of our events. Please fill out the volunteer section on the back of the membership forms as well. This past year we held several events at various locations. The Executive has been and will continue to work hard on planning events and promoting the growth of the club. Here is a quick update on these events. Fruehlingsfest We held a Spring Dinner, Dance and Silent Auction at the Red Deer Legion in mid April. The event had nearly 100 people in attendance and with over 45 silent auction items donated from various local companies; we raised over $1400 for the Building fund. July 1st Canada Day Celebrations With a lot of hard work from the volunteers from the club and the soccer team we sponsored, this years Canada Day was the best yet. We sold more food than in previous years and made more money, once again the money raised going to the building fund. Sommernachtsfest In August we held a BBQ, dance and bonfire at our site in our new tent. While advance ticket sales did not go as well as we hoped, we had lots of people come the day of the event. With over 90 people showing up, we ran a bit short on food and drink. We are trying to learn from our errors and not have this happen at future events. Oktoberfest This year's event was a huge success. We sold out a week prior to the event. With over 325 people in attendance, the food was fantastic! the music great to listen and dance to, a good time was had by all. Thanks to everyone for making it such a great time! FUNDRAISING: Raffle Tickets Our raffle was completed on July 1st, and the winners of the prizes were all excited and appreciative. We are currently looking to hire a professional fundraiser. This person once hired, will give us that extra boost in raising the necessary funds to start construction on our Hall. Government Grants The Executive has this past year spent numerous hours filling out applications and researching into various grants available from the different levels of government. We will be following up with everything this year. Unfortunately, most grants only supply funds once we have 50% of our needs already in the bank. This is why we need a fundraiser. If we as a club could raise approximately $400,000, funding would then fall into place and we could have a facility built relatively quickly. Tent We have come up with a tent rental contract. The large tent that we have stored on our property will be available for rent come the New Year. We are currently waiting to hear from the lawyer's office to see if the rental contact we have come up with can be used. Hall Update We are very excited about the opportunity to build. We are excited about the Sprung Structure, which provides us with the opportunity to build a great facility at a fraction of the cost. Sprung structures has a great website that you can visit. Check out www.sprung.com and see what their buildings are all about. We hope to have a promising and positive start to 2008 and will update everyone as things progress with the hall and site.
